Hash Generator (SHA)
Compute SHA-256, SHA-384, or SHA-512 digests of text using the Web Crypto API, the same cryptography your browser uses for TLS. One honest warning: fast hashes like these are not for passwords. Password storage needs a slow KDF such as Argon2 or bcrypt.

Digest (hex)
Digest will appear hereSHA hashes are fast by design and are NOT suitable for storing passwords. Use Argon2 or bcrypt for passwords.
How to use the Hash Generator (SHA)
- Paste or type the text to hash.
- Choose an algorithm.
- Press Hash and copy the hex digest.
Example
The SHA-256 of abc is a well known test vector: ba7816bf...20015ad.

Frequently asked questions
Can I hash a password here?
You can, but you should not store passwords with SHA. These digests are fast by design, which makes brute force cheap. Use Argon2 or bcrypt in your application.
Where does hashing happen?
In your browser via crypto.subtle. The text never leaves the tab.
